Description of the Program

The ComputerScience&Technology BA program is designed to develop your skills to make in-depthand valuable contributions to design, development, and production in thepractice of computer software systems and related engineering or applicationareas, to demonstrate strong self-learning and self-problem solving abilities, communicationskills and the ability to function effectively as part of a team, to demonstratea sense of societal and ethical responsibility in all professionalendeavors.

I. Department Overview
The Computer Science Department in Hangzhou Normal University was founded in 1996and is joined by the Digital Media and Human-Computer Interaction Institute,the Information Security Institute, and the Software and Information Service Center.

The B.S. program in Computer Science&Technologycovers both a solid core of Computer Science&Technology courses and theability to gain substantial depth in engineering through a required trainingand corporation experience. The curriculum provides choices for science andengineering courses. Its mathematics and probability courses ensure thatstudents have the tools to remain current as technologies and systems change.

Due to the ongoing R&D projects withinthe Department, many students obtain part-time or summer jobs, or receiveindependent study credit, and gain insight into the practical issues ofbuilding and maintaining systems.

II. Training Objectives            

The Computer Science Department strives forexcellence in imparting and applying knowledge in computer science andengineering through comprehensive educational programs, practical training andresearch in collaboration with industry and government.
Our main educationalobjective is to make in-depth and valuable contributions to design,development, and production in the practice of computer software systems andrelated engineering or application areas, to demonstrate strong self-learningand self-problem solving abilities, communication skills and the ability tofunction effectively as part of a team, to demonstrate a sense of societal andethical responsibility in all professional endeavors.

Note: Students who have passed HSK3(new format) will be exempt from Elementary Chinese, Elementary Chinese Listening and Speaking; Students who have passed HSK4(new format) will be exempt from Elementary Chinese, Elementary Chinese Listening and Speaking, Intermediate Chinese, Intermediate Chinese Listening and Speaking. Those students can get the credits of corresponding courses after confirmation.
